This 9-day safari is designed for wildlife and primate lovers seeking an immersive East African adventure. You’ll begin in the chimpanzee-rich forests of Kibale, then explore the savannah and waterways of Queen Elizabeth NP including its tree-climbing lions, trek gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, and finish with calm game drives and boat rides at Lake Mburo. Expect dense rainforest hikes, early morning game drives, dramatic scenery, and cultural stops along the way.

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport where you’ll meet your safari guide and transfer to your hotel. Relax and recover from your journey as you prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Entebbe → Kibale Forest

After breakfast, set off for Kibale Forest, traveling through beautiful countryside and tea plantations. Arrive in the afternoon, check in to your lodge, and enjoy dinner surrounded by rainforest sounds.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Walk

Begin with a morning chimpanzee trek in Kibale Forest. After lunch, explore Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, known for birdlife, primates, and scenic trails. Overnight near Kibale.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive south through the crater lakes region to Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, famous for hippos, crocodiles, and elephants. Optional evening game drive.

Day 5: Ishasha Game Drives

Enjoy a morning game drive in Kasenyi Plains, then head to the Ishasha sector, home to the renowned tree-climbing lions. Relax at your lodge and soak up the savannah scenery.

Day 6: Ishasha → Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early game drive, travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, arriving by afternoon. Check in to your lodge and rest ahead of your gorilla trekking experience.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After a briefing from park rangers, set out on a guided gorilla trek through dense jungle terrain. Spend a magical hour observing a gorilla family, then return for relaxation or an optional cultural village walk

Day 8: Bwindi → Lake Mburo National Park

Depart Bwindi for Lake Mburo National Park, stopping in Mbarara for lunch. In the evening, take a boat cruise on Lake Mburo or an optional night game drive.

Day 9: Game Drive & Return to Entebbe

Enjoy an early morning game drive or walking safari, spotting zebras, impalas, and elands. After breakfast, drive back to Entebbe, stopping at the Equator for photos and souvenirs before your evening flight.

Travel in a 4×4 safari vehicle with pop-up roof, guided by an English-speaking professional driver.

Trekking Notes

Gorilla & chimpanzee permits included (UWA-issued).
Treks last 2–6 hours, depending on primate location.
Fitness level: moderate, with some uphill forest trekking.

Best Time to Visit
Dry seasons (June–September & December–February) are best for trekking, but safaris run year-round.

What to Pack
Hiking boots, rain jacket, long trousers, insect repellent, gloves, and a reusable water bottle.
