Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Bwindi

You begin early, leaving Kampala (or your arrival city) after breakfast. There’s a stop at the Equator crossing for a photo-op and local crafts, then lunch in Mbarara Town. Travel onward through scenic terrain into the Rushaga area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Evening: arrive, have dinner, rest up at your accomodation.

Day 2: Gorilla Habituation in Bwindi

Early start: briefing at the Bwindi park headquarters about protocols and safety. With guides/researchers, trek into the forest. The habituation experience gives you about four hours with gorillas — observing them, possibly interacting with the research process (such as recognizing individuals, observing vocalisations, etc.). Return to lodge for overnight at Nkuringo.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest

After breakfast, depart Bwindi heading north-west to Kibale Forest National Park. Along the way you enjoy changing landscapes. Arrive in the afternoon, get settled in the lodge-style accommodation, have dinner, overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Habituation in Kibale

Up early for another briefing, then spend a full day in chimpanzee habituation in Kibale. This is more than just trekking — you’ll observe the process by which chimpanzee communities grow accustomed to human observers (which may include following researchers, gradual exposure). Also you’ll have a chance to see other primates in Kibale (there are many species) and enjoy the forest’s biodiversity. Evening at lodge.

Day 5: Return Journey & Departure

After breakfast, begin the drive back towards Kampala. On your way out, there is again a stop at the Equator for photos and crafts, plus lunch en route. Depending on your departure plans, you’ll be dropped off either at the airport or your hotel in Kampala. Safari concludes.
